GOAL: Testing a simple chemical reaction!

TOOLS:

  • Muffin tin
  • Small bowls
  • Eye dropper (Optional) / Spoon
  • Paper Towels
  • Vinegar
  • Food Coloring
  • Baking soda

STEPS

1. Mix little bowls of vinegar with liquid food coloring
2. Use eyedropper to mix vinegar and watch chemical reaction
3. For a dramatic end, make a big reaction by dumping vinegar into a small bowl of baking soda!

TIPS

The gas formed during this reaction is carbon dioxide which causes the fizzing and bubbly reaction.

This activity is also great for talking about the 5 senses. You can hear, feel, smell, and touch the reaction.
